시는 고양특례시 태권도시범단이 지역을 대표하는 문화사절단으로서 고양국제꽃박람회(4. 25. ~ 5. 11.)와 세계지방정부연합 아태지부(UCLG ASPAC) 제10차 총회(9.24. ~ 9.26.)에서 문화공연을 펼칠 예정이라고 밝혔다.
2009년도에 창단한 고양특례시 태권도시범단은 태권도를 통한 문화 교류 및 지역 사회 발전을 목표로, 다양한 국내외 행사에서 뛰어난 퍼포먼스를 선보이며 태권도의 우수성을 널리 알리고 있으며, 특히 매년 개최하는 고양특례시 주요행사 및 각종 대회에서 화려한 기술과 창의적인 퍼포먼스로 관람객들의 큰 호응을 얻고 있다.
태권도 시범단은 지난 몇 년간 시범단은 국내뿐만 아니라 해외에서도 활동을 이어왔으며 특히 국제 태권도 대회 초청 공연, 문화 교류 행사, 아시아 각국의 태권도 사범 및 선수들과의 협업을 통해 대한민국의 전통 무예인 태권도를 널리 알리는 데 기여해 왔다.
