오세훈 서울시장이 국민의힘 당내 대선후보 불출마를 선언했다. 그런데 그보다 더 눈길을 끈 것은 민주당 대변인의 논평이다. "오 시장의 불출마는 당연하다. 수사부터 받아라." 이 발언에는 염치도, 체면도, 상식도, 논리도 없다. 정치 풍자 코미디 대사라 해도 이상하지 않을 정도다.
12개 혐의, 8개 사건, 5개의 재판을 앞두고 온갖 방법으로 재판을 지연시켜 온 후보. 그 후보의 사실상 '추대 절차'를 진행하는 정당이 중도층 경쟁에서 앞서있는 상대 후보의 불출마에 대해 "수사부터 받아라"고 말한다는 것은 실로 아연실색할 일이다.
오세훈 서울시장에게 수사부터 받으라 하기 전에, 이재명 민주ᄃힹᆼ 당내 대통령 후보에게 출마 전 재판부터 모두 받고 나오라고 요구하는 것이 상식이다. 명분이나 논리, 이치에도 맞다.
최소한 재판을 기피하거나 거부하지는 말아야 한다. 선거법 상고심의 송달 서류조차 수령을 거부하며, 요리조리 회피해가며 재판을 비루하게 지연시키는 사람이 법치의 최정점에 서겠다는 것 자체가 뻔뻔함의 극치이다. 이것이야말로 내로남불의 극치다.
게다가 민주당은 당원 50%, 국민 50%의 경선 룰조차 협의 없이, 이재명 후보를 추대하기 위한 방식으로 일방 확정했다. 혹시나 했는데 역시나다. ‘역선택 방지용’이라 포장했지만, 비호감도가 62%에 달하는 이재명 후보를 보호하기 위한 위인설관적 경선 룰일 뿐이다. 나머지 후보들은 들러리 그 이상도 이하도 아니다. 민주당의 일극 체제가 얼마나 반민주적인지 스스로 입증한 셈이다. 결과가 뻔한 경선은 경선이 아니다. 선의로 봐도 정치쇼이고, 본질적으로는 국민을 향한 사기극이다.
예상된 각본에 들러리로 나서는 것은 국민에 대한 예의가 아니다. 그 자체로 미필적 고의의 공범이다. 이재명 후보의 추대를 위한 들러리 사기극에 공범으로 가담해서는 안 된다. 차라리 추대 형식을 택해 일극 체제의 실체를 정직하게 드러내는 것이 그나마 도리다. 결말이 정해진 경선에서 들러리로 나서주는 것은 주인공보다 더 추해지는 길이다. 어찌 보면 더 책임이 큰 것이다.
