이번 공모는 전국 지자체와 문화재단을 대상으로 지역문화의 자생력과 지속가능성을 높인 사례를 발굴하기 위해 마련됐으며, 제천문화재단의 사업은 문화예술을 통한 정주 여건 개선과 공동체 회복이라는 점에서 높은 평가를 받았다.
이번 수상은 문화소외 지역으로 인식되던 농촌과 마을이 문화예술의 중심지로 탈바꿈할 수 있다는 가능성을 보여준 성과이며, 제천문화재단은 이를 계기로 지속 가능한 지역문화 생태계 조성에 더욱 박차를 가할 예정이다.
대표적인 사례로 교동민화마을의 ‘화담마담’ 프로젝트는 원로 민화 작가와 지역 청년들이 함께 민화를 재해석하고‘힙한 제천 민화’라는 새로운 브랜드를 만들어내며 세대 통합과 전통문화의 현대적 계승이라는 과제를 동시에 풀어냈다. 상천리 마을은 산수유를 주제로 한‘산+水=YOU’ 축제를 통해 자연재해로 인한 상처를 치유해내며 지역민 스스로의 변화 가능성을 증명했고, 삼거1리는 장례문화 유산인 회다지놀이를 테마로 마을 축제를 기획하여 오늘날에 맞게 재구성하는 데 성공했다.
