이 부의장 등 동부권 의원 전원은 지난 3일 오후 1시 전남도 동부지역본부에서 긴급 기자회견(사진)을 열고 공동성명을 발표하며 "나주 빛가람혁신도시 중심의 공공기관 이전 논의는 전남 내부 불균형을 심화시킬 것"이라고 경고했다.
이번 기자회견은 정부의 수도권 공공기관 157개 이전 계획에서 동부권이 배제될 조짐이 보이자 이에 대응하기 위해 마련되었다.
이광일 부의장은 현재의 지역 간 불균형 문제를 강하게 지적했다. 이 부의장은 "나주혁신도시는 이미 한전 등 에너지 공기업과 농어촌·ICT·식품 관련 기관이 집중되어 있으며, 대형 연구시설과 AI 신산업까지 서부권에 집중되고 있다"고 밝혔다.
