브레이크뉴스 박동제 기자= 디즈니+는 4일 “오는 6일 개막하는 국내 유일 리그 오브 레전드(이하 LoL) 단기 컵대회 ‘2025 LoL KeSPA CUP’을 글로벌 독점 생중계하고 e스포츠 팬 공략에 나선다”고 밝혔다.
e스포츠 강국인 한국에서 펼쳐지는 LoL 대회를 디즈니+ 라이브 스트리밍으로 선보여 국내는 물론 아태지역(APAC) 곳곳의 e스포츠 팬들과의 접점을 확대하고, 한층 다채롭고 풍성한 엔터테인먼트 경험을 선사한다는 계획이다.
디즈니+에서 단독 생중계되는 ‘2025 LoL KeSPA CUP’은 한국e스포츠협회(이하 협회)가 주최하는 국가대표 선발 자격요건 대회로 LoL 챔피언스 코리아(LCK) 10개 팀과 베트남·일본 올스타 팀, LCS 소속 클라우드9(Cloud9)과 팀 리퀴드(Team Liquid) 등 총 14개 팀이 참가한다.
특히 베트남의 ‘소프엠’ 레꽝주이 감독이 이끄는 정상급 선수단, 일본의 ‘Recap’ 야마자키 노리후미 선수 등 항저우 아시안게임 국가대표와 은퇴 후 복귀한 레전드 선수들이 합류한 화려한 라인업이 팬들의 눈길을 끌 것으로 보인다. 또, 한국 팀에게도 새로운 팀합과 전력, 나아가 국제 경쟁력까지 점검할 수 있는 무대라는 점 역시 관전 포인트다.
