브레이크뉴스 박동제 기자= 글로벌 OTT(온라인동영상서비스) 기업 넷플릭스(Netflix)가 720억 달러(약 106조원)에 할리우드 명가 워너브러더스 디스커버리를 인수하기로 합의했다.
5일(현지시각) CNN, 월스트리트저널(WSJ) 등 외신에 따르면, 넷플릭스는 워너브러더스 인수 우선 협상대상자로 선정됐다. 거래 종료 시점은 내년 3분기다.
이는 지난 2019년 월트디즈니컴퍼니의 20세기폭스 인수금(710억 달러)를 넘어 최근 10년 새 엔터테인먼트 업계에서 최대 규모의 인수합병이다.
워너브러더스는 지난 2022년 워너미디어와 디스커버리의 합병으로 탄생했다. 넷플릭스는 워너브러더스의 영화·TV 스튜디오, 스트리밍 서비스 ‘HBO 맥스’ 등을 인수하게 된다.
