브레이크뉴스 정민우 기자= 미국 중앙은행인 연방준비제도(Fed·연준)가 10일(현지시각) 기준금리를 0.25%p 인하했다.
연준은 연방공개시장위원회(FOMC) 정례회의 뒤 기준금리를 종전 3.75∼4.00%에서 3.50∼3.75%로 인하하기로 결정했다고 발표했다.
올해 3번째이자 3연속 금리 인하다. 이에 따라 한국(2.50%)과의 금리 차이는 상단 기준 1.25%p로 좁혀졌다.
연준은 성명에서 “FOMC는 고용과 물가 양측 위험에 주의를 기울이고 있다. 최근 몇 달간 고용 하방 위험이 증가했다고 판단한다”고 금리 인하 배경을 설명했다.
이어 “인플레이션은 다소 높은 수준”이라며 “최대 고용을 지지하고 인플레이션을 2% 수준으로 복귀시키기 위해 전념하고 있다”고 덧붙였다.
한편, 연준은 내년 말 기준금리 예상치의 중간값을 3.4%로 제시했다. 이를 고려하면 내년에는 1차례의 0.25%p 인하가 예상된다.
