대한민국 과학수도 대전의 독창적인 인프라를 한자리에서 체험할 수 있는 이색 가족 과학 캠프가 막을 올린다.
대전광역시는 대전관광공사와 손잡고 오는 20일부터 다음 달 12일까지 대전외국인학교(TCIS)에서 초등학교 4~6학년 학생과 학부모를 대상으로 ‘2026 사이언스 나이트 캠프’를 총 4차례에 걸쳐 개최한다고 16일 밝혔다.
이번 행사는 대덕연구개발특구의 첨단 과학 인프라와 대전시민천문대의 천체 관측 콘텐츠, 그리고 국제학교의 글로벌 교육 환경을 유기적으로 연계한 1박 2일 체류형 야간 관광 프로그램이다.
야간관광 특화도시로서 대전만의 차별화된 매력을 알리고, 외지 관광객들의 지역 내 체류 시간을 늘려 지역 경제에 활력을 불어넣겠다는 취지로 기획됐다.
캠프는 회차당 최대 32가족이 참여하는 규모로 진행된다. 참가자들은 대전외국인학교 캠퍼스 기숙사에 직접 투숙하며 과학, 천문, 교육이 결합한 다채로운 야간 프로그램을 소화하게 된다.
핵심 프로그램으로는 물리·생물·화학 등 다양한 과학적 원리를 직접 실험을 통해 풀어내는 미션형 활동인 ‘사이언스 레이스’가 펼쳐진다.
이와 함께 대전시민천문대 전문가들과 함께 밤하늘의 별자리를 관측하고 우주의 신비를 배우는 천문 강좌도 마련된다. 아울러 동행한 학부모들을 위해 국제학교의 교육 시스템과 환경을 둘러볼 수 있는 설명회도 함께 진행해 교육적 유익함을 더할 예정이다.

Daejeon Metropolitan City announced on the 16th that, in partnership with the Daejeon Tourism Organization, it will host the ‘2026 Science Night Camp’ in four sessions from the 20th of this month to the 12th of next month at the Daejeon International School (TCIS), targeting elementary school students in grades 4 through 6 and their parents.

Furthermore, to enhance the educational value, an information session will be held for accompanying parents to tour the international school's educational system and environment.
