(무안·순천=브레이크뉴스) 이학수 기자=전라남도가 생활권 녹지공간 확대를 유도하고 주민 참여형 정원문화를 확산하기 위해 개최한 ‘예쁜정원 콘테스트’에서 순천의 ‘일곱계절 정원’을 포함한 총 10개의 우수 정원을 최종 선정했다고 밝혔다.
이번 대회는 도민들이 생활 주변에서 오랜 시간 정성을 다해 심고 가꾼 정원을 발굴해 지역의 새로운 관광자원으로 활용하기 위해 마련됐다. 공모는 ‘개인 정원’과 ‘생활권 정원’ 2개 부문으로 진행됐으며, 도내 17개 시군에서 총 40개소가 응모해 뜨거운 관심을 보였다. 전남도는 공정한 서류 심사와 면밀한 현장 실사를 거쳐 최종 수상작을 가려냈다.
이번 콘테스트의 영예의 대상은 순천의 ‘일곱계절 정원’(정원주 서순미)이 차지했다. 서순미 정원주는 “기존의 4계절에 초봄, 초여름, 늦가을의 정취를 더해 총 일곱 계절의 풍경을 정원에 담아냈다”며 “특정 계절에만 반짝 아름다운 공간이 아니라, 초봄부터 깊은 겨울까지 지속적으로 변화하고 살아 숨 쉬는 정원을 연출하고자 노력했다. 정성을 다해 가꾼 공간이 큰 상을 받게 돼 매우 기쁘다”고 수상 소감을 전했다.
