동강사진마을운영위원회와 영월문화관광재단은 지난 4월 9일부터 6월 1일까지 진행된 제24회 동강국제사진제 국제공모전 작품 접수 및 심사를 거쳐, 올해의 작가를 포함해 총 19명의 선정 작가를 발표했다고 19일 밝혔다.

올해 국제공모전은 「형식을 건네는 특유의 온도(The Silence that Shapes)」라는 주제로 진행되었으며, 전 세계 76개국에서 총 5,656점의 수준 높은 작품들이 출품되어 치열한 경쟁을 벌였다.

영예의 '올해의 국제공모전 작가'로는 헝가리 출신의 발라주 투로시(Balázs Turós)가 선정됐다. 그는 삶과 죽음, 탄생과 소멸로 이어지는 인간 존재의 순환 과정을 특유의 섬세한 시선으로 담아낸 작품으로 심사위원들의 높은 평가를 받았다.

이번 공모전에 선정된 19명 작가들의 다채로운 작품은 동강국제사진제 기간 동안 동강사진박물관 야외전시장과 제7전시실에 전시되어 관람객들을 맞이할 예정이다.
한편, 제24회 동강국제사진제는 오는 7월 17일부터 10월 11일까지 동강사진박물관과 영월문화예술회관 등 영월군 일원에서 성대하게 펼쳐진다. 개막식은 7월 24일 오후 7시 동강사진박물관 야외광장에서 열린다.
