브레이크뉴스 김충열 정치전문기자 = 정청래 더불어민주당 대표는 22일 오전 국회 본관에서 열린 제294차 최고위원회의 모두발언에서 “이재명 대통령의 유럽 순방은 대한민국의 위상을 높이고 국익과 국민을 챙긴 실용외교의 성과가 곳곳에서 드러났다”고 평가했다.

정 대표는 “2년 연속 G7 정상회의 초청으로 국제사회의 신뢰를 확인했고, AI·공급망·에너지 안보 등 글로벌 현안에서 대한민국의 존재감을 보여줬다”며 “트럼프 미국 대통령, 카니 캐나다 총리, 메르츠 독일 총리, 루토 케냐 대통령 등과의 회담을 통해 경제·안보 협력을 확대했다”고 설명했다.
특히 그는 “이재명 대통령은 레오 14세(Pope Leo XIV) 교황을 예방하여 북한 방문을 요청하며 한반도 평화에 대한 각별한 노력을 기울였다”며 “트럼프 대통령과 90분 넘게 대화하며 평화 정착을 위한 협력을 논의했다. 남북 관계와 북미 관계의 시계를 다시 움직일 수 있다면 그것만으로도 큰 업적”이라고 강조했다.
정 대표는 “우리는 수출로 먹고 사는 나라이고 대외 의존성이 높은 경제 구조이기 때문에 외교·안보가 가장 중요하다”며 “평화가 곧 경제이고 국민 행복의 길”이라고 말했다.
또한 그는 “국회 국정조사특위가 내일부터 중앙선관위 기관 보고를 시작한다”며 “투표용지 부족 사태는 부정선거가 아니라 참정권 침해의 문제다. 철저히 규명하고 제도개혁으로 이어져야 한다”고 밝혔다. 이어 “국민이 필요하다면 2차 국정조사, 특검, 원포인트 개헌까지도 검토할 수 있다”고 덧붙였다.
정 대표는 최근 법원의 이화영 전 경기도 평화부지사 ‘연어 술파티’ 의혹 판결에 대해서도 “교도관 진술과 법무부 조사 보고서가 있음에도 납득하기 어려운 판결”이라며 “항소심에서는 다른 판단이 나오길 기대한다”고 밝혔다.
끝으로 그는 “더불어민주당은 대통령의 외교 성과가 국민 삶으로 이어지도록 든든히 뒷받침하고, 선관위 개혁과 참정권 수호에 최선을 다하겠다”고 말했다. hpf21@naver.com

Break News, Political Reporter Kim Choong-lyoul = In his opening remarks at the 294th Supreme Council Meeting held at the National Assembly Main Building on the morning of the 22nd, Democratic Party Leader Chung Cheong-rae assessed that “President Lee Jae-myung’s European tour demonstrated the results of pragmatic diplomacy that elevated the status of the Republic of Korea and cared for national interests and the people in various aspects.”
Leader Chung explained, “We confirmed the trust of the international community through invitations to the G7 Summit for two consecutive years and demonstrated the Republic of Korea’s presence on global issues such as AI, supply chains, and energy security.” He added, “We expanded economic and security cooperation through meetings with U.S. President Trump, Canadian Prime Minister Carney, German Chancellor Merz, and Kenyan President Luto.”
In particular, he emphasized, “President Lee Jae-myung paid a courtesy call to Pope Leo XIV and requested a visit to North Korea, dedicating special efforts to peace on the Korean Peninsula.” He added, “He conversed with President Trump for over 90 minutes to discuss cooperation for the establishment of peace. If we can reset the clock on inter-Korean and North Korea-U.S. relations, that alone would be a significant achievement.”
Representative Chung stated, “Since we are a country that relies on exports for our livelihood and have an economic structure highly dependent on external factors, diplomacy and national security are of the utmost importance.” He further remarked, “Peace is the economy and the path to national happiness.”
He also noted, “The National Assembly Special Committee on State Affairs Investigation will begin receiving reports from the National Election Commission starting tomorrow,” and stated, “The ballot paper shortage is not a matter of election fraud, but rather an infringement of the right to vote. It must be thoroughly investigated and lead to institutional reform.” He added, “If the public deems it necessary, we can even consider a second parliamentary investigation, a special prosecutor, or a one-point constitutional amendment.”
Representative Jeong also addressed the recent court ruling regarding the allegations surrounding former Gyeonggi Province Vice Governor for Peace Lee Hwa-young’s "salmon drinking party," stating, "It is a difficult ruling to accept despite the presence of prison guard testimonies and the Ministry of Justice investigation report," and added, "I hope for a different judgment in the appellate trial."
Finally, he said, "The Democratic Party of Korea will firmly support the President to ensure his diplomatic achievements translate into the lives of the people, and will do its utmost to reform the National Election Commission and safeguard suffrage." hpf21@naver.com
