[브레이크뉴스=배종태 기자] 주진호 국민의힘 의원이 24일 법무부를 항의 방문하고, 박상용 검사에 대한 징계 중단과 철회를 촉구했다. 주 의원은 이와 함께 이재명 관련 재판과 특검 도입 움직임에 대해서도 강하게 비판했다.
주 의원은 이날 ‘이재명 재판취소 저지 특별위원회’ 위원장 자격으로 법무부를 방문해 “아무런 잘못이 없는 박상용 검사에 대한 탄압과 징계를 즉각 중단해야 한다”고 밝혔다.
그는 특히 “재판 취소를 특검에 맡기려는 시도는 납득하기 어렵다”며 “법무부나 검찰 등 정상적인 공무원 조직 내에서는 특정 개인의 재판을 취소하는 행위에 동의할 사람이 없기 때문”이라고 주장했다.
또한 “박상용 검사 징계 철회를 요구하는 국민 서명이 5만 5천 명을 넘어섰다”며 여론의 지지도 강조했다.
주 의원은 이어 “박상용 검사 징계는 곧 이재명 정부의 레임덕으로 이어질 수 있다”며 “박 검사에 대한 탄압은 결국 탄핵 사유로도 연결될 수 있다”고 강조했다.

아울러 주 의원은 이화영 전 부지사를 언급하며 “이른바 ‘연어 술파티’ 의혹을 퍼뜨린 사안에 대해 검찰이 즉각 항소해야 한다”고 촉구했다.
한편, 법무부는 이날 항의 방문과 관련해 별도의 공식 입장을 내놓지 않았다.

Rep. Joo Jin-ho of the People Power Party visited the Ministry of Justice on June 24 to lodge a formal protest, calling for the suspension and withdrawal of disciplinary measures against Prosecutor Park Sang-yong. He also criticized moves related to the cancellation of trials involving Lee Jae-myung and the potential use of a special counsel.
Speaking in his capacity as chair of the “Special Committee to Block Trial Cancellation in the Lee Jae-myung Case,” Joo stated, “The unjustified disciplinary action and pressure against Prosecutor Park Sang-yong must be stopped immediately.”
He further questioned the rationale behind assigning a special counsel to pursue trial cancellation, saying, “It is difficult to understand why such a matter would be handed over to a special counsel, as no normal public official within the Ministry of Justice or the prosecution would be willing to take responsibility for canceling a specific individual’s trial.”
Joo also noted that a public petition calling for the withdrawal of disciplinary action against Park has surpassed 55,000 signatures, emphasizing what he described as growing public support.
He added, “The disciplinary action against Prosecutor Park could mark the beginning of a lame-duck phase for Lee Jae-myung,” and argued that “pressure against Park could ultimately become grounds for impeachment.”
In addition, Joo urged prosecutors to immediately appeal in connection with allegations spread by former Vice Governor Lee Hwa-young, referring to the so-called “salmon drinking party” claim.
The Ministry of Justice has not issued an official response regarding the protest as of now.
