청와대가 7일(현지시간) "한·나토(NATO·북대서양조약기구) 간 (조달) 기본협정 체결 시 연 15조 원으로 예상되는 나토 공동조달 시장에 한국 기업이 참여할 수 있는 제도적 기반이 마련되는 것”이라고 전했다.
위성락 국가안보실장은 이날 튀르키예 앙카라 현지 프레스센터 브리핑에서 "한·나토 간 조달 기본협정 체결을 위한 협상 개시를 공식화했다"며 이같이 밝혔다.
그러면서 "세계 최대 규모 나토 방산 시장 진출을 위한 발판을 확보한 것”이라며 "이 협정은 나토·파트너국 간 군수·방산 협력·조달 계약에 필요한 법적·행정적 사항을 규정한다”고 했다.
또 “한국은 장비·물자를 공동개발 하는 다국적 협력사업 중 기존 옵서버로 참여한 탄약 공급·방산·원자재 사업에 옵서버로 참여케 됐다“며 ”다국적 협력 사업이 더욱 확대된 것“이라고 했다.
이어 ”탄약·방산·원자재 사업 참여는 한·나토 간 무기 체계 상호 운용성을 강화하는 것"이라며 "한국 군수품의 안정 조달 여건을 만드는 데 기여할 것“이라고 했다.
더불어 우크러이나 지원 관련해 "인도적 지원 포함 다양한 경로로 꾸준히 지원해 왔고 이번 1억 불 공약은 그 연장선에서 기여를 확대하는 것”이라며 "하루빨리 참혹한 전쟁이 끝나고 평화로운 일상이 회복될 수 있도록 글로벌 책임 강국으로 국제사회와 함께 힘을 계속 보태 나갈 것”이라고 덧붙였다.
