포항시는 오는 11일부터 다음 달 23일까지 44일 동안 지역 내 지정 해수욕장 8곳을 운영한다고 밝혔다. 개장 대상은 구룡포·도구·신창·송도·영일대·칠포·월포·화진해수욕장으로, 운영시간은 매일 오전 9시부터 오후 7시까지다.
시는 개장에 앞서 물놀이 안전과 이용객 편의를 위해 해수욕장 시설 전반에 대한 점검을 마쳤다. 안전시설을 비롯해 샤워장과 화장실 등 편의시설을 정비하고 운영 준비를 완료했다.
해양 안전관리도 한층 강화했다. 해파리와 상어 등 유해 해양생물의 해수욕장 유입을 차단하기 위해 해수욕장별 차단망을 설치했으며, 피서객들이 안심하고 물놀이를 즐길 수 있도록 예방 대책을 마련했다.
안전사고 발생에 대비한 인력도 대폭 배치된다. 인명구조요원 82명과 응급처치요원 8명 등 모두 90명의 안전관리 인력이 운영기간 동안 순찰과 안전관리를 담당하며, 응급상황 발생 시 신속한 구조와 응급처치가 이뤄질 수 있도록 대응체계를 유지할 계획이다.
이와 함께 해수욕장별 안전시설을 지속적으로 점검하고 관계기관과의 협조체계를 강화해 각종 안전사고와 재난 상황에도 신속히 대응할 수 있는 운영체계를 유지할 방침이다.
포항시 관계자는 "올여름 포항을 찾는 시민과 관광객들이 안심하고 해수욕을 즐길 수 있도록 안전관리와 시설 운영에 최선을 다하겠다"며 "이용객들도 안전요원의 안내를 따르고 물놀이 안전수칙을 반드시 준수해 안전한 피서문화 조성에 동참해 달라"고 말했다.
한편 구룡포·도구·신창·송도·영일대·칠포·월포·화진해수욕장은 개장 첫날인 11일 개장식과 함께 수신제 및 어룡제를 열고 올여름 해수욕장 운영의 시작을 알릴 예정이다.
