8일 횡성군에 따르면, 횡성문화관광재단(대표이사 이재성)은 이날부터 오는 26일까지 횡성문화예술회관 전시장 및 횡성복합아트센터 전시실에서 2026년 기획전시 「욕망의 초상(The Faces of Desire)」을 개최한다.

이번 전시는 사랑과 아름다움, 삶과 죽음, 생존과 불안 등 시대와 문화를 초월해 예술 속에 담겨온 인간 본연의 모습을 조명한다. 세계 각국의 유명 미술관에 소장되어 쉽게 접하기 어려운 명화들을 원작의 색감, 질감, 크기까지 정교하게 재현한 레플리카(Replica) 작품들로 구성됐다.

전시장에서는 구스타프 클림트의 〈죽음과 생명〉, 빈센트 반 고흐의 〈감자를 먹는 사람들〉, 산드로 보티첼리의 〈비너스의 탄생〉, 에드바르 뭉크의 〈절규〉 등 이름만으로도 가슴을 뛰게 하는 세계적 거장들의 대표작을 한자리에서 만날 수 있다.

특히 이번 전시의 메인 이미지로 내세운 헨리 퓌슬리의 〈악몽(The Nightmare)〉은 인간의 무의식과 공포, 욕망이 교차하는 심리를 강렬하게 담아내며 전시의 주제를 함축적으로 전달한다.

아울러 재단은 관람객들의 깊이 있는 이해를 돕기 위해 전시장 내 도슨트(전시 해설사)를 상주시켜 작품의 배경과 작가의 의도를 흥미롭게 해설한다. 또한 남녀노소 누구나 즐길 수 있는 상설 체험 프로그램도 함께 운영해 관람의 재미를 더할 예정이다.

이재성 횡성문화관광재단 대표이사는 “욕망은 인간을 움직이는 가장 본질적인 감정이자 위대한 예술을 탄생시키는 원동력”이라며, “이번 전시를 통해 우리에게 익숙한 명화를 새로운 시각으로 감상하고, 작품 속에 숨겨진 다양한 상징과 의미를 발견하는 뜻깊은 시간이 되길 바란다”고 밝혔다.

한편, 이번 전시는 기간 내 휴관일 없이 매일 오전 10시부터 오후 6시까지 누구나 무료로 관람할 수 있다.
