이재명 대통령이 8일(현지시간) 튀르키예 나토(NATO·북대서양조약기구) 계기로 니쿠쇼르 단 루마니아 대통령과 만나 방산·원전 분야 협력 강화 방안을 논의했다고 청와대가 전했다.
강유정 수석대변인은 이날 오후 서면 브리핑에서 "이 대통령은 대한민국엔 루마니아가 정말 중요한 협력 파트너로 교역·방위산업 분야에서 진전이 이뤄지고 있다"며 "특히 K9은 (루마니아) 현지 생산하게 됐다는 점이 특별히 의미있다 생각한다고 말했다"고 전했다.
그러면서 "이 대통령은 방위산업에서 물건을 사고파는 거래 관계가 아닌 개발·공동생산하고 제3세계에 함께 진출하는 실질 협력에 주안점을 두고 있다"고 했고, 단 대통령은 "양국 관계가 매우 좋고 흥미로운 투자도 많이 이뤄지고 있다"고 평했다.
단 대통령은 이어 "방산 분야서 한화가 내년 초 개시되는 사업도 추진 중이며 원자력 발전 관련해 흥미로운 진전들이 있다"며 "루마니아 원전 2곳 개보수 사업에 한국 기업들이 참여하고 2개 신규 원전 건설 사업도 추진 중이며 양국 간 경제 협력에 여러 새 기회들이 있을 것"이라고 덧붙였다.
