이재명 대통령이 8일(현지시간) 튀르키예 나토(NATO·북대서양조약기구) 계기로 볼로디미르 젤렌스키 우크라이나 대통령과 만나 1억불 규모 인도적 지원 지속 뜻을 밝혔다고 청와대가 전했다.
강유정 수석대변인은 이날 오후 서면 브리핑에서 "이 대통령이 이날 오후 앙카라에서 나토 정상회의 참석 계기로 젤렌스키 대통령과 첫 정상회담을 갖고 이런 논의를 했다"고 전했다.
그러면서 "이 대통령은 젤렌스키 대통령에게 나토 정상회의에서 대 우크라 1억불 포괄적 지원 공약을 발표했다고 설명했다"며 "한국 정부가 우크라 국민들이 필요로 하는 인도적 지원을 지속하며 우크라 복구·재건을 위한 국제사회 노력에도 지속 동참해 나갈 것이라고 강조했다"고 전했다.
이어 "젤렌스키 대통령은 한국 정부 지원에 감사 뜻을 전하고, 전쟁의 조속 종식 및 우크라 평화·회복을 위해 향후도 한국 포함 국제사회와 긴밀히 협력해 나가길 희망한다고 화답했다"며 "우크라 재건 과정서 한국 정부 기업들의 지속 관심·참여를 기대한다고 밝혔다"고 전했다.
또 "양 정상은 우크라 내 북한군 포로 문제 관련해 당사자들 자유 의사를 존중해 국제법·인도주의 원칙에 부합하는 방식으로 해결해 나가기로 뜻을 모았다"며 "한반도·우크라 정세 관련 폭넓은 의견을 교환하고 양국 관계 발전을 위해 향후도 긴밀한 소통을 이어가기로 했다"고 덧붙였다.
