이재명 대통령이 10일(현지시간) 몽골 현지 동포들과 만나 "한·몽골 관계는 더 원활한 경제 교역으로 경제협력이 강화되고 좋아질 것"이라고 했다.
이 대통령은 이날 몽골 수도 울란바타르 한 호텔에서 몽골 한인사회 구성원 약 80명과 동포 오찬 간담회를 갖고 격려사를 통해 이같이 말했다고 강유정 청와대 수석대변인이 서면 브리핑에서 전했다.
그러면서 "여러분이 쌓아 올린 기존 성과를 바탕으로 한·몽골은 핵심 광물·첨단 산업·에너지·공급망·디지털 전환 등 여러 방면에서 협력을 이어가는 전략 동반자로서 새 시대를 열어갈 수 있게 됐다"고 했다.
또 "1990년 수교 후 양국 정부 간 협력 본격화 전부터 수많은 동포들이 먼저 이 땅을 찾아 학교를 세우고 기술을 나누고 기업을 일으키며 몽골 이웃들과 함께 신뢰를 쌓아 왔다"며 "오늘날 대한민국이 이처럼 몽골서 가장 친숙한 나라 가운데 하나로 자리매김할 수 있었던 것은 모두 동포 여러분 헌신 덕분"이라고 했다.
동포들은 이 자리에서 한·몽골 간 항공편 증설·항공료 인하 등을 건의한 가운데 이 대통령은 "항공 수요 등 나름 이유도 있을 것 같다"고 답했다.
