대전과 세종, 충남·충북을 아우르는 중부권 대학들이 교육 자원을 공유하는 초광역 협력체계 구축에 본격적으로 나섰다. 충남대학교와 충북대학교는 정부가 추진하는 ‘5극3특 공유대학 사업’의 핵심 거점으로서 지역 대학 간 연계를 강화하고 관련 인프라를 확산하는 데 앞장서고 있다.
충남대학교는 10일 사범대학 대강당에서 충북대학교와 공동으로 ‘5극3특 공유대학 사업 설명회’를 개최했다. 이번 설명회는 중부권 내 대학 간 유기적인 협력망을 조성하고 사업의 구체적인 추진 방향을 논의하기 위한 첫 공식 행사로 마련됐으며, 충청권 대학 관계자와 지자체, 지역RISE센터 관계자 등 120여 명이 참석해 높은 관심을 보였다.
교육부의 ‘5극3특 공유대학 사업’은 전국 5극3특 권역별로 9개의 공유대학 모델을 구축해 지역 대학들의 교육·연구 자원을 하나로 연결하는 정책이다. 국가거점국립대학교를 중심으로 일반대, 사립대, 전문대가 연합 체계를 이뤄 교육과정과 시설, 장비를 공동 활용함으로써 거점 국립대에 집중된 우수한 인프라를 지역 대학 전체로 확산하는 것을 골자로 한다.
이날 설명회는 사업에 대한 전반적인 소개를 시작으로 공유 인프라 구축 및 운영 방안 설명, 질의응답을 통한 의견 수렴, 참석자 간 네트워킹 순으로 진행됐다.
조직위는 기존 공유대학의 운영 성과를 바탕으로 한층 고도화된 중부권 초광역 모델을 제시했다. 이 모델은 공동 교육과정 및 연구 개발, 자원 개방, 창업 거점 기능 수행, 수도권과 비수도권의 연계, 기초학문·교양교육 공유 등을 핵심 과제로 삼고 있다. 특히 대학별 강점을 결합한 공유교육 체계를 통해 학생과 지역이 함께 성장하는 선순환 인재 양성 생태계를 만들겠다는 비전이 강조됐다.
이어진 질의응답 시간에는 참석한 대학 및 유관기관 관계자들이 교육과정의 공동 운영 방식과 구체적인 참여 방안, 향후 일정 등을 다각도로 논의하며 지속적인 소통과 협력을 이어가기로 뜻을 모았다.
이준헌 충남대 RISE사업단장은 “5극3특 공유대학은 대학 간의 소모적 경쟁에서 벗어나 초광역 단위의 협력을 통해 지역 고등교육의 새로운 모델을 제시하는 사업”이라며 “이번 설명회를 기점으로 참여 대학 및 지역 혁신 주체들과 긴밀히 공조해 중부권을 대표하는 공유대학 모델을 성공적으로 안착시키겠다”고 말했다.
한편, 충남대학교는 그동안 RIS 사업을 통해 ‘DSC 공유대학’을 성공적으로 이끌어온 주관대학이다. RISE 체계 전환 이후에도 축적된 노하우를 바탕으로 초광역 협력 기반의 공유대학 모델을 지속적으로 발전시켜 왔으며, ‘2025년 지역혁신 우수사례 경진대회’ 초광역 협업 분야에서 대상을 수상하는 등 차별화된 운영 역량을 입증한 바 있다.
