국민의힘 지도부는 이날 열린 원내대책회의 등에서 민주당의 검찰 보완수사권 폐지 움직임을 비판하며, 국민 안전을 위해 이를 반드시 저지하겠다는 입장을 분명히 했다.
이날 회의에서 장동혁 대표는 보완수사권이 폐지될 경우 통제받지 않는 경찰의 권력 남용으로 이어져 결국 국민적 피해를 초래할 것이라고 지적했다.
이어 정점식 원내대표는 야당을 향해 국회 상임위원회 독식 협박을 즉각 중단할 것을 촉구했다. 이와 함께 최근 발생한 증시 폭락 사태와 관련해 책임자 경질을 요구하며 목소리를 높였다.
아울러 당 지도부는 주요 현안에 대한 철저한 진상 규명도 요구했다. 지방선거 당시 불거진 참정권 침해 의혹과 관련해 특별검사(특검) 도입을 공식적으로 주장하는 한편, 해군 장병 실종 사건 발생 당시 대통령의 명확한 행적을 밝힐 것을 촉구했다.
장동혁 당 대표, “검찰 보완수사권 폐지... 괴물경찰 낳고 국민안전 위협할 것”

이어 장동혁 대표는 일명 ‘장윤기 사건’을 언급하며, 현 상황에서 시급한 것은 수사권 일원화가 아니라 비대해진 경찰 조직에 대한 통제와 개혁이라고 목소리를 높였다. 장 대표는 “장윤기 사건은 경찰의 선의에 기대어 제대로 된 수사를 바라는 것이 불가능하다는 점을 증명했다”라며, “경찰이 거대한 권력을 행사함에 있어서 반드시 견제하고 통제할 장치가 필요하다”고 주장했다. 특히 민주당이 추진하는 검찰 보완수사권 폐지 움직임에 대해 “보완수사권 폐지는 정파적 이해관계나 특정인을 보호하기 위해 강성 지지층에게 쉽게 던져줄 선물이 아니다”라고 꼬집었다. 그는 “이러한 입법 폭주의 대가는 고스란히 국민이 생명과 안전이라는 형태로 감당해야 한다”며, “평생 ‘수사 대상’으로만 살아온 이들은 수사받는 이들에게만 유리한 이 법안의 폐해를 이해하지 못할 것”이라고 이재명 대통령과 여권을 직접 비판했다. 아울러 “국민의힘은 보완수사권 폐지를 막기 위해 국민들과 함께 끝까지 최선을 다해 투쟁하겠다”고 밝혔다.

정점식 원내대표, “상임위 독식 협박 중단하고 경제·안보 참사 책임져야”

이어 “활주로 인근 탄약고 이전 예정 부지에 반도체 팹을 조기 착공하겠다는 구상 역시 비행안전구역 고도 제한으로 인해 건설용 타워 크레인 설치조차 불가능한 대안”이라고 꼬집었다. 아울러 “광주 군 공항은 한미 공동 운용기지로서 시설 이전 등을 하려면 주한미군과의 SOFA 협의를 거쳐야 하며 이는 통상 수년이 걸리는 일”이라고 지적했다. 그러면서 유 원내부대표는 “정부와 국방부는 정치적 목표에 매몰돼 안보 공백을 초래할 수 있는 졸속 프로젝트를 전면 재검토하라”고 촉구했다.
