(강진=브레이크뉴스) 이학수 기자=전남광주통합특별시 동물위생시험소가 동물용의약품 잔류물질 시험 분야에서 국제공인시험기관으로 인정받았다. 이로써 유럽연합(EU)과 영국 등 글로벌 축산물 수출시장을 공략할 수 있는 세계적 수준의 시험검사 기반이 마련됐다.
동물위생시험소는 이를 기념해 최근 강진군 작천면 본소에서 국제공인시험기관 인정 현판식을 개최했다고 밝혔다.
이날 행사에는 유덕규 전남광주통합특별시 농수산본부장, 김준철 강진군 부군수, 정지영 동물위생시험소장, 김성진 축산정책과장, 이영남 동물방역과장, 이창우 ㈜사조원 대표이사 등 산·학·연·관 관계자 30여 명이 참석했다. 참가자들은 국제공인시험기관 인정 경과를 공유하고 시험실 현장을 시찰하며, 지역 축산물의 해외 수출 확대 방안을 심도 있게 논의했다.
동물위생시험소는 지난 6월 25일 산업통상자원부 국가기술표준원 산하 한국인정기구(KOLAS)로부터 농축산물 화학시험 분야(동물용의약품 잔류물질 시험)의 국제공인시험기관(ISO/IEC 17025) 인정을 최종 획득했다. 이는 전국 동물위생시험기관 중 네 번째에 해당하는 쾌거다.
국제공인시험기관 인정은 시험실의 시설과 장비, 품질경영체계, 시험방법, 전문인력 역량 등 검사 전반이 까다로운 국제 기준에 부합하는지 엄격히 평가하는 제도다. 이번 인정을 통해 동물위생시험소가 발행하는 시험성적서는 전 세계적으로 공신력을 얻게 됐다.
이번 인정은 지역 축산물 수출업체에 거는 기대가 크다. 현재 유럽연합과 영국 등으로 삼계탕 등 가공 축산물을 수출하기 위해서는 반드시 국제공인시험기관이 발급한 시험성적서가 필요하기 때문이다.
전남광주통합특별시는 이번 성과를 계기로 지역 수출업체의 해외시장 진출 절차를 돕고, 유럽연합 수출작업장 등록 등을 적극적으로 지원해 수출 경쟁력을 끌어올릴 방침이다.
유덕규 전남광주통합특별시 농수산본부장은 “우리 지역의 동물용의약품 잔류물질 시험 역량이 세계적 기준에 부합함을 입증한 뜻깊은 성과”라며 “철저하고 신뢰도 높은 검사 체계로 시민에게는 안전한 먹거리를 제공하고, 지역 축산물이 글로벌 시장으로 뻗어 나갈 수 있도록 아낌없이 지원하겠다”고 강조했다.
정지영 동물위생시험소장 역시 “국제공인시험기관 운영을 통해 시험검사의 신뢰성을 지속해서 높이고 축산물 안전관리와 해외 수출 지원에 최선을 다하겠다”며 “국제 수준의 시험 역량을 한층 더 발전시켜 지역 축산업의 미래 경쟁력을 끌어올리겠다”고 포부를 밝혔다.
