브레이크뉴스 정명훈 기자= 오세훈 서울시장이 정부의 용산공원 부지 아파트 건립 가능성에 대해 반대 입장을 재차 밝혔다.
오 시장은 8일 자신의 페이스북을 통해 "노무현 전 대통령은 용산공원을 '미래 세대를 위한 소중한 자산'이라며 '지상에는 단 하나의 건물도 짓지 말라'는 원칙까지 세웠다"고 말했다.
이어 "문재인 정부 역시 이러한 철학을 이어받아 2007년 제정된 용산공원조성특별법의 취지에 따라 용산공원을 녹지 중심의 국가공원으로 조성하겠다는 계획을 추진했다"고 주장했다.
그러면서 "그런데 이제 와서 그 공간에 아파트를 짓겠다는 발상이 나온다면 민주당 정부가 세웠던 원칙과 철학마저 스스로 뒤집는 것"이라고 비판했다.
오 시장은 주택 공급의 필요성 자체는 인정하면서도 용산공원 부지를 활용하는 데는 원칙이 필요하다고 강조했다.
그는 "주택 공급은 중요하지만 공급에도 지켜야 할 원칙이 있다"며 "미래 세대가 누려야 할 마지막 자산까지 허물어가며 아파트를 짓는 것은 지속 가능한 도시 정책이 아니다"고 밝혔다.
이어 "용산공원은 단순한 유휴부지가 아니다"라며 "서울의 허파이자 대한민국의 미래를 위해 남겨둬야 할 국가적 자산"이라고 강조했다.
기후위기와 녹지의 중요성도 언급했다. 오 시장은 "올여름 계속되는 기록적인 폭염도 기후 위기가 더 이상 미래의 이야기가 아니라는 사실을 우리 모두에게 보여주고 있다"며 "이럴 때일수록 도시는 더 많은 녹지를 품어야 한다"고 말했다.
이어 "기후 위기에 대응하는 가장 확실한 도시 인프라가 바로 녹지"라고 주장했다.
