(재)달성문화재단은 오는 9월 5일과 6일 국립대구과학관 사이언트리홀에서 ‘2026 달성 아동극 시리즈’의 하나로 가족뮤지컬 ‘폭풍우 치는 밤에’를 선보인다고 밝혔다.
이번 공연은 지역 어린이와 가족들이 수준 높은 공연예술을 가까이에서 접할 수 있도록 기획됐다. 작품의 원작은 일본 그림책 ‘가부와 메이 이야기’로, 1994년 출간된 이후 250만 부 이상 판매됐으며 15개국에 번역·출간된 스테디셀러다. 국내에서는 드라마 ‘주군의 태양’의 모티브로 알려지면서 대중에게도 이름을 알렸다.
뮤지컬은 폭풍우가 몰아치는 어느 밤 우연히 동굴에서 만난 늑대 가부와 염소 메이의 이야기를 중심으로 전개된다. 서로가 천적이라는 사실을 알지 못한 채 친구가 된 두 주인공이 이후 정체를 알게 되면서 겪는 갈등과 선택을 통해 서로를 이해하고 존중하는 우정의 의미를 전달한다.
공연은 24개월 이상 관람할 수 있으며, 한 회 공연 시간은 약 75분이다. 9월 5일과 6일 오전 11시에 각각 한 차례씩 총 2회 공연이 진행된다. 관람료는 무료다.
관람을 원하는 경우 오는 8월 25일 오전 10시부터 달성문화재단 누리집을 통해 온라인으로 신청하면 된다. 좌석은 선착순으로 배정된다.
공연 기간에는 국립대구과학관 주변에서 가족 단위 방문객을 위한 문화행사 ‘YES! 키즈존’도 함께 운영된다. 공연 관람객들은 다양한 체험과 놀이 프로그램에도 참여할 수 있어 가족 나들이를 겸한 문화행사로 즐길 수 있다.
최재훈 달성문화재단 이사장은 “어린이들이 좋은 공연을 통해 다양한 감정을 경험하고 문화예술을 자연스럽게 접하는 기회가 되길 바란다”며 “초가을 가족들이 함께 공연과 체험을 즐기며 오래 기억할 수 있는 시간을 보내길 기대한다”고 말했다.

The Dalseong Cultural Foundation announced that it will present the family musical ‘Stormy Night’ as part of the ‘2026 Dalseong Children’s Theater Series’ at the Scientree Hall of the National Daegu Science Museum on September 5 and 6.

The original work is the Japanese picture book ‘The Story of Kabu and Mei,’ a steady seller that has sold over 2.5 million copies since its publication in 1994 and has been translated and published in 15 countries. The performance is suitable for ages 24 months and older, and each show lasts approximately 75 minutes. A total of two performances will be held on September 5 and 6 at 11:00 AM. Admission is free.
Those wishing to attend can apply online via the Dalseong Cultural Foundation website starting at 10:00 AM on August 25. Seats are assigned on a first-come, first-served basis.
During the performance period, the "YES! Kids Zone," a cultural event for family visitors, will also be operated near the National Daegu Science Museum. Audience members can participate in various hands-on activities and play programs, making it an enjoyable cultural event combined with a family outing. Choi Jae-hoon, Chairman of the Dalseong Cultural Foundation, said, “I hope this provides an opportunity for children to experience various emotions and naturally encounter culture and the arts through good performances,” adding, “I look forward to families spending a memorable time together enjoying performances and experiences in early autumn.”
