청와대가 18일 "지난 6·3 지방선거 투표용지 부족·투표 통계 조작 등 중앙선거관리위원회 비위 의혹 조사 특검에 이태한 국민권익위 비상임위원이 임명됐다"고 전했다.
강유정 수석대변인은 이날 오후 언론 공지를 통해 이같이 전했다.
이 특검은 사법연수원 23기 출신으로 지난 1994년 대구지검 검사 임관 후 부산지검 공판부장·울산지검 특수부장·서울남부지검 형사4부장 등을 거쳐 대한변호사협회 부협회장·법무부 검찰인사위원·국방부 군판사인사위원장 등을 맡고 있다.
앞서 지난 14일 선관위 특검 후보 국민추천위는 이 특검과 이혁(20기) 전 서울고검 검사를 후보자로 추천한 바 있다.
선관위 특검은 최장 20일 준비 기간을 거쳐 최대 165명 규모 수사팀을 구성하는 가운데 수사 기간 경우 두 차례 연장 기간 포함 최장 150일이 주어진다.
