[브레이크뉴스=이성용 기자] 경남 고성·산청·함양에서 여행하면 지역에서 사용한 경비의 절반을 모바일 지역화폐로 돌려받을 수 있게 된다.
경상남도는 문화체육관광부의 ‘하반기 지역사랑 휴가지원 시범사업’ 공모에 고성군과 산청군, 함양군이 최종 선정됐다고 밝혔다.
이 사업은 농어촌 인구감소지역을 방문한 관광객의 여행경비 50%를 지역화폐로 환급해 관광객 유입과 지역 내 소비를 늘리는 사업이다. 숙박비와 식음료비, 체험비 등 지역에서 발생한 여행경비가 환급 대상이며, 개인은 최대 10만원, 2인 이상은 최대 20만원까지 지원받을 수 있다.
환급받은 지역화폐는 해당 지역에서 다시 사용할 수 있어 관광객의 소비가 지역 내에서 이어지는 구조다. 하반기 사업은 8월 말부터 11월까지 진행될 예정이며, 구체적인 신청 기간과 방법, 환급 절차 및 사용처는 각 군에서 추후 안내한다.
앞서 상반기에는 밀양·남해·하동·거창·합천 등 5개 시군이 사업에 참여했다. 지난 4월부터 8월까지 추진된 사업은 7월 말 중간 정산 기준 133억원의 지역 소비를 창출해 투입 예산의 약 2.7배에 달하는 효과를 냈다.
경남도는 하반기에도 각 지역의 축제와 관광자원을 사업과 연계해 관광객의 숙박·음식점·관광지 이용을 유도하고 체류시간과 지역 소비를 확대할 계획이다.
경남도 관계자는 “하반기 선정 지역에서도 지역경제에 새로운 활력을 불어넣을 것으로 기대한다”며 “지역 축제와 관광자원을 연계해 더 많은 관광객이 경남에 머물며 지역의 매력을 경험하도록 하겠다”고 말했다.
