법원이 김종혁 국민의힘 전 최고위원의 손을 들어줬다. 결국 올 것이 왔다. 아니, 와야 할 것이 뒤늦게 도착했을 뿐이다. 사필귀정인 것이다. 법원은 말한다. 국민의힘 윤리위의 징계는 절차적으로도, 내용적으로도 중대한 하자가 있으며, 재량권 남용에 해당한다고. 그리고 그것이 단 한 번이 아니라 두 번이다. 배현진 의원에 이어 김종혁 전 최고위원까지. 이쯤 되면 ‘판단’이 아니라 ‘판결’이다. 개인의 문제가 아니라 구조의 문제, 실수가 아니라 시스템의 붕괴다.
정당 내부 문제에 사법부가 개입하는 것은 극히 이례적이다. 그럼에도 불구하고 법원이 연이어 가처분을 인용했다는 것은 무엇을 의미하는가. 한동훈 전 대표의 지적처럼, “눈뜨고 못 볼 정도”의 비정상 상태였다는 뜻이다. 다시 말해, 국민의힘은 스스로의 자정 능력을 상실했고, 외부 권력이 개입하지 않으면 안 될 수준으로 무너졌다는 자백과도 같다.
문제의 본질은 명확하다. 비판을 징계로 찍어누르는 정치, 절차를 무시한 권력 행사, 그리고 그 모든 것을 정당화하는 당권파의 오만이다. 김종혁 전 최고위원에 대한 법원의 판단은 특히 상징적이다. “정당민주주의와 표현의 자유 범위 내의 비판”을 징계 사유로 삼았다는 것, 그리고 그 징계 수위가 비례 원칙을 벗어났다는 지적은 사실상 윤리위의 존재 이유 자체를 부정하는 수준이다.
윤리란 무엇인가. 권력을 통제하기 위한 장치다. 그런데 국민의힘 윤리위는 정반대로 작동했다. 권력을 견제하기는커녕, 권력을 위한 도구로 전락했다. 비판자는 제거되고, 충성은 보상받는 구조. 이것이야말로 정당이 아니라 사조직의 모습이다. 민주주의의 외피를 쓴 권위주의, 그것이 지금 국민의힘의 민낯이다.
더 심각한 것은 이 모든 사태의 중심에 장동혁 지도부와 당권파가 있다는 점이다. 이들은 당의 분열과 파행을 방치한 것이 아니라, 오히려 촉진했다. 한동훈을 제명하고, 친한계를 찍어내고, 내부 비판을 봉쇄하는 과정에서 당은 점점 더 폐쇄적이고 왜곡된 구조로 변질되었다. 그리고 그 결과가 바로 오늘의 ‘법원에 의해 제동 걸린 정당’이다.
정치는 신뢰의 게임이다. 그런데 지금 국민의힘은 신뢰를 잃은 것을 넘어 신뢰를 파괴하고 있다. 이게 무슨 경우인지 모르겠다. 당원들은 묻고 있다. 왜 정당이 법원에 의해 정상성을 판정받아야 하는가. 유권자들은 냉소한다. 저 정당이 과연 국가를 운영할 자격이 있는가.
사필귀정. 모든 일은 결국 바른 자리로 돌아간다. 이번 법원의 결정은 단순한 법률 판단이 아니다. 정치적 경고이며, 도덕적 심판이다. 그리고 그 화살은 분명히 장동혁 지도부와 당권파를 향하고 있다.

Justice Prevails! Suspension of Disciplinary Action Against People Power Party’s Kim Jong-hyeok

The court has sided with former People Power Party Supreme Council member Kim Jong-hyeok. What was bound to happen has finally happened. Or rather, what was bound to happen has simply arrived belatedly. It is a case of justice prevailing. The court states that the People Power Party Ethics Committee’s disciplinary action has serious flaws both procedurally and substantively, and constitutes an abuse of discretion. And this is not just once, but twice. Following Representative Bae Hyun-jin, now former Supreme Council member Kim Jong-hyeok. At this point, it is not a "judgment" but a "verdict." The court’s ruling regarding former Supreme Council member Kim Jong-hyuk is particularly symbolic. The fact that the grounds for disciplinary action were cited as “criticism within the scope of party democracy and freedom of expression,” and the criticism that the severity of the punishment exceeded the principle of proportionality, effectively negates the very reason for the Ethics Committee’s existence.
What is ethics? It is a mechanism to control power. However, the People Power Party’s Ethics Committee operated in the exact opposite way. Far from checking power, it degenerated into a tool for power itself. A structure where critics are eliminated and loyalty is rewarded. This is precisely the appearance of a private organization, not a political party. Authoritarianism wearing the cloak of democracy—that is the true face of the People Power Party today.
What is even more serious is that the Jang Dong-hyuk leadership and the faction in power are at the center of this entire crisis. They did not neglect the party's division and dysfunction; rather, they accelerated it. In the process of expelling Han Dong-hoon, rooting out pro-regional factions, and blocking internal criticism, the party degenerated into an increasingly closed and distorted structure. The result is today's "party halted by the court."
Politics is a game of trust. However, the People Power Party is now going beyond merely losing trust to destroying it. I do not know what kind of situation this is. Party members are asking: Why must a political party have its legitimacy judged by the court? Voters are cynical: Does that party truly have the qualifications to govern the country?
Justice will prevail. Everything eventually returns to its proper place. This court decision is not merely a legal judgment. It is a political warning and a moral judgment. And that arrow is clearly aimed at the Jang Dong-hyuk leadership and the faction in power.
Now is the time for a choice. Will you admit responsibility and step down, or will you hold out to the end and drag the party into an even deeper quagmire? However, one thing is clear. Public sentiment has already turned, the court has delivered its judgment, and the record of history has begun. Justice will prevail is not far off.
