한동훈 국민의힘 전 대표가 부산 북구 재보궐 선거에서 승리, 국회에 진입하게 됐다. 이런 드라마는 본 적이 없다. 드라마 중에 드라마였다. 부산이 과거에 YS(김영삼 전 대통령)를 선택했듯 현재에 한동훈을 선택한 것이다. 이번 보궐선거는 건곤일척의 승부였다. 한국 보수가 어디로 갈 것인가에 대한 한동훈의 방향 제시였고 부산 북구 지역민들은 한동훈의 손을 들어줬다. 그는 '차기 대선후보감'으로 등장한 것이다.

개표 초반만 해도 상황은 녹록치 않아 보였다. 개표율 75% 구간까지 뒤처지던 게 새벽 2시 무렵 드라마틱한 역전극을 만들어냈다. 최종적으로 42.96%를 얻어 41.26%를 기록한 하정우 후보를 제치고 승리했다. 숫자로는 1%대 차이에 불과하지만 그렇기에 더 드라마틱하고 더 큰 정치적 의미를 부여할 수 있다.
무엇보다 이번 선거는 거대 정당의 간판이 아니라 정치인 개인의 비전과 신뢰가 얼마나 중요한지를 보여주었다. 무소속 후보가 여당과 제1야당의 조직력, 기존 정치권의 이해관계를 모두 넘어 승리했다는 사실 자체가 한국 정치사에서 보기 드문 장면이다. 이는 부산 북구갑 유권자들이 정당보다 인물을 선택했다는 의미이기도 하다.
