【브레이크뉴스 포항】박영재 기자=포항 내연산 천년고찰 보경사가 사찰음식과 문화예술을 결합한 체험 행사를 통해 시민과 관광객들에게 특별한 산사 경험을 선사했다.
대한불교조계종 내연산 보경사(주지 탄원 스님)는 지난 14일 경내에서 ‘사찰음식 시식체험’과 제2회 여행드로잉 ‘보경사를 그리다’ 행사를 개최했다고 밝혔다.
이번 행사에는 포항 시민을 비롯해 전국 각지에서 찾은 관광객과 등산객 등 2000여 명이 참여해 산사의 자연 속에서 전통문화와 예술을 즐기는 시간을 가졌다.

보경사 템플스테이가 주관한 사찰음식 체험 행사는 한국불교문화사업단 주최, 문화체육관광부 후원으로 진행됐다. 참가자들은 보경사에서 준비한 사찰 비빔밥을 함께 나누며 불교 전통 식문화의 특징인 절제와 건강한 먹거리의 의미를 체험했다.
또 보경사 신도 단체인 선다회는 다도 시음 행사를 마련해 방문객들에게 차 한 잔의 여유와 산사의 정취를 느낄 수 있는 시간을 제공했다.
이와 함께 경내에서는 국가유산청과 경상북도, 포항시가 후원하고 보경사가 주최한 전통산사 국가유산 활용사업의 하나인 제2회 여행드로잉 ‘보경사를 그리다’ 행사가 열렸다.
K-템플드로잉협회가 주관한 이번 행사에는 전국에서 활동하는 드로잉 작가 10명과 초대작가 5명 등 전문 작가 15명을 비롯해 동호인과 일반 참가자 등 300여 명이 참여했다.

참가자들은 보경사의 전각과 자연 풍경을 직접 관찰하며 그림으로 표현했다. 행사 첫날인 13일에는 산사의 공간과 문화를 주제로 한 워크숍이 진행됐으며, 14일에는 대형 화폭에 보경사의 아름다움을 담는 ‘빅피처’ 작업이 이어졌다.
보경사는 이번 행사에서 완성된 작품을 향후 달력과 문화상품 개발 등에 활용해 불교문화예술 콘텐츠 확장에도 나설 계획이다.
보경사 주지 탄원 스님은 “초여름 자연 속에서 열린 사찰음식과 드로잉 행사가 종교와 계층을 넘어 산사를 찾은 모든 이들에게 위로와 휴식의 시간이 되었기를 바란다”며 “앞으로도 전통문화유산을 알리고 시민과 관광객들이 편안하게 찾을 수 있는 열린 도량으로 역할을 이어가겠다”고 말했다.

이어 “여행드로잉 ‘보경사를 그리다’를 포항 곳곳의 명소로 확대한다면 지역의 아름다움을 전국에 알리는 좋은 계기가 될 것”이라고 조언했다.

Bogyeongsa Temple (Abbot Tanwon), affiliated with the Jogye Order of Korean Buddhism, announced that it held a "Temple Food Tasting Experience" and the 2nd Travel Drawing event, "Drawing Bogyeongsa," on its grounds on the 14th.
Approximately 2,000 people, including Pohang citizens, tourists from across the country, and hikers, participated in the event, enjoying traditional culture and art amidst the natural surroundings of the mountain temple.
The temple food experience, organized by Bogyeongsa Temple Stay, was hosted by the Korea Buddhist Cultural Business Group and sponsored by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism. Participants shared temple bibimbap prepared by Bogyeongsa, experiencing the meaning of moderation and healthy eating, which are characteristics of traditional Buddhist food culture. In addition, Seondahoe, a lay Buddhist group at Bogyeongsa Temple, organized a tea tasting event, offering visitors a moment to enjoy a cup of tea and experience the atmosphere of the mountain temple.
Furthermore, the 2nd Travel Drawing event, "Drawing Bogyeongsa," was held within the temple grounds as part of the Traditional Mountain Temple National Heritage Utilization Project, sponsored by the National Heritage Administration, Gyeongsangbuk-do, and Pohang City, and hosted by Bogyeongsa Temple.
Organized by the K-Temple Drawing Association, the event brought together approximately 300 participants, including 15 professional artists—10 from across the country and 5 invited artists—as well as hobbyists and general attendees.
Participants observed the temple's halls and natural scenery firsthand and expressed them through drawings. On the first day of the event, the 13th, a workshop was held on the themes of the temple's space and culture, followed by a "Big Picture" project on the 14th to capture the beauty of Bogyeongsa on large canvases. Bogyeongsa Temple plans to expand its Buddhist cultural and artistic content by utilizing the artworks completed during this event for the development of calendars and cultural products.
Venerable Tanwon, the head monk of Bogyeongsa Temple, stated, “I hope that this event featuring temple food and drawing, held amidst nature in early summer, provided a time of comfort and rest for everyone who visited the mountain temple, regardless of religion or social class.” He added, “We will continue to promote traditional cultural heritage and serve as an open sanctuary where citizens and tourists can visit comfortably.”
He further remarked, “If we expand the travel drawing project ‘Drawing Bogyeongsa’ to famous landmarks throughout Pohang, it will serve as a great opportunity to showcase the region’s beauty to the entire nation.”
