선린대학교는 포항시 교육발전특구 시범지역 지정에 따른 대학협력 프로그램의 하나로 지역 중·고등학생을 대상으로 다양한 진로체험 과정을 마련했다고 밝혔다.
이번 프로그램은 학생들이 미래 직업 세계를 이해하고 진로를 설계할 수 있도록 돕기 위해 추진되며, 오는 12월까지 포항지역 중·고등학교 학생들을 대상으로 진행된다.
대학은 지역 내 12개 학교 학생 약 2,000명을 대상으로 학과별 특성을 반영한 실습 중심 교육을 제공할 계획이다. 참여 학과는 간호학과를 비롯해 물리치료학과, 방사선과, 응급구조과, 뷰티디자인과, 호텔조리제빵바리스타과, 반려동물과 등으로 구성됐다.
학생들은 각 학과 교수진과 재학생들의 지도를 받으며 직업 체험과 진로 상담에 참여하게 된다. 이를 통해 자신의 적성과 흥미를 확인하고 진로 선택에 필요한 정보를 얻을 수 있도록 지원받는다.
주요 프로그램으로는 간호학과의 예비 간호사 체험, 물리치료학과의 스포츠 테이핑 실습, 응급구조과의 응급처치 교육, 호텔조리제빵바리스타과의 제과·제빵 체험 등이 운영되며, 실무 중심의 체험활동으로 학생들의 관심을 모으고 있다.
최경숙 입학취업처장(간호학과 교수)은 “학생들이 변화하는 미래사회에 필요한 역량을 키우고 다양한 진로를 경험할 수 있도록 체험 중심 교육을 지속 확대하고 있다”며 “교육발전특구 사업을 계기로 지역사회와 대학이 함께 성장하는 교육환경 조성에 힘쓰겠다”고 말했다.
한편 포항시는 교육발전특구 시범지역 지정 이후 지역 대학과의 협력을 바탕으로 맞춤형 진로교육과 지역인재 육성, 정주형 교육체계 구축 등 다양한 교육정책을 추진하고 있다.

Sunlin University is operating an experiential education program to support career exploration for local youth in conjunction with the Pohang Special Education Development Zone project.
Sunlin University announced that it has prepared various career experience courses for local middle and high school students as part of a university cooperation program following the designation of Pohang as a pilot area for the Special Education Development Zone.
This program is being implemented to help students understand the future world of work and plan their career paths, and will run until this coming December for middle and high school students in the Pohang region.
The university plans to provide practice-oriented education tailored to the specific characteristics of each department to approximately 2,000 students from 12 local schools. Participating departments include the Department of Nursing, as well as Physical Therapy, Radiology, Emergency Medical Services, Beauty Design, Hotel Culinary & Baking & Barista, and Companion Animals.
Students will participate in job experiences and career counseling under the guidance of faculty and current students from each department. Through this, students receive support to identify their aptitudes and interests and obtain the information necessary for career selection.
Key programs include the Department of Nursing's pre-nurse experience, the Department of Physical Therapy's sports taping practice, the Department of Emergency Medical Services' first aid training, and the Department of Hotel Culinary Arts and Barista's pastry and baking experience. These practical, hands-on activities are attracting the interest of students.
Choi Kyung-sook, Dean of Admissions and Employment (Professor of Nursing), stated, "We are continuously expanding experience-based education to help students cultivate the competencies needed for a changing future society and experience diverse career paths." She added, "Taking the Education Development Special Zone project as an opportunity, we will strive to create an educational environment where the local community and the university grow together."
Meanwhile, since being designated as a pilot area for the Education Development Special Zone, Pohang City has been implementing various educational policies based on cooperation with local universities, including customized career education, nurturing local talent, and establishing a residential education system.
