남구보건소는 폭염대책기간인 오는 9월 30일까지 독거노인과 80세 이상 고령자, 장애인, 만성질환자 등 폭염에 취약한 시민 220명을 대상으로 건강 모니터링을 실시한다고 밝혔다.
최근 낮 최고기온이 30도를 넘는 무더운 날씨가 이어지면서 보건소는 방문간호사와 재활 전문인력을 중심으로 대상 가정을 직접 방문하거나 전화 상담을 진행해 건강 상태를 수시로 확인하고 있다.
또한 충분한 수분 섭취와 냉방기기 적정 사용, 한낮 시간대 야외활동 자제 등 폭염 예방을 위한 건강수칙을 안내하며 온열질환 발생 예방에 힘쓰고 있다.
특히 폭염특보가 내려질 경우에는 안부 확인 횟수를 늘리고 응급상황 발생 여부를 면밀히 점검하는 등 건강 취약계층 보호에 집중할 방침이다.
남구보건소는 이와 함께 시민들의 폭염 대응 역량을 높이기 위해 환경의 날 행사와 포항시민의 날 행사 등 각종 지역 행사장에서 온열질환 예방법과 건강관리 요령을 알리는 홍보 캠페인도 전개하고 있다.
김정임 남구보건소장은 “폭염은 고령자와 만성질환자 등 건강 취약계층에게 큰 위험요인이 될 수 있다”며 “지속적인 건강 점검과 예방 활동을 통해 시민들이 안전하게 여름을 보낼 수 있도록 적극 지원하겠다”고 말했다.
