민주당 전남도당과 광주시당은 지난 16일부터 17일까지 이틀간 전남 보성다비치콘도에서 ‘전남·광주통합특별시의원 당선인 워크숍 및 총회’를 열고, 통합특별시의회의 원활한 출범과 민주적 원구성을 위한 주요 안건을 의결했다고 밝혔다.
전국 최초의 광역 통합 지방의회라는 역사적 의미를 지닌 이번 총회는 4선의 송형곤 당선인(고흥1)이 임시의장을 맡아 진행됐으며, 민주당 배분위원회의 당론 제안을 토대로 시의회 원구성 관련 안건들을 심의·의결했다.
당선인들은 의장단과 상임위원장, 원내대표를 모두 자율 경선 방식으로 선출하기로 합의했다.
통합특별시의회의 균형 있는 참여와 협치를 제도적으로 뒷받침하기 위해 부의장은 전남과 광주에서 각각 1명씩 총 2명을 선출하기로 원칙을 정했다. 아울러 총 11개 상임위원회를 기준으로 상임위원장 배분은 전남 7석, 광주 4석의 비율로 배정해 양 지역의 조화를 도모했다.
