파주출판도시 자유로 휴게소가 단순한 휴식 공간을 넘어 전기차 충전 인프라와 지역 관광 혜택을 결합한 복합 휴게 공간으로 새롭게 탈바꿈하고 있다.
파주시는 지난 11일부터 자유로 휴게소 내에 테슬라 전용 급속충전기(수퍼차저) 8기의 운영을 시작했다고 밝혔다.
이번 충전 인프라 확충으로 경기 북부 지역을 오가는 전기차 운전자들의 충전 편의성이 크게 향상될 것으로 기대된다.
시는 전기차 이용자들이 충전소 위치를 보다 쉽게 확인하고 이용할 수 있도록 주요 내비게이션 업체에 관련 정보를 반영해 줄 것을 요청하는 등 적극적인 홍보 활동도 병행하고 있다.
이와 함께 휴게소 이용 환경 개선을 위한 녹지 정비 사업도 추진 중이다.
휴게소 주변 수목 정비와 제초 작업 등을 실시해 보다 쾌적하고 자연 친화적인 휴식 공간을 조성함으로써 장거리 운전자와 방문객들의 만족도를 높인다는 계획이다.
관광 활성화를 위한 특별 혜택도 마련됐다.
자유로 휴게소 내 푸드코트 또는 즉석 매장을 이용한 고객이 해당 영수증을 지참하고 이용일 기준 1일 이내에 파주임진각평화곤돌라를 방문하면 탑승 요금의 20%를 할인받을 수 있다.
이번 할인 혜택은 휴게소 방문객이 지역 관광지까지 자연스럽게 이동하도록 유도하는 체류형 관광 활성화 정책의 일환으로 마련됐다.
휴게 공간과 관광 콘텐츠를 연계해 지역 경제 활성화와 관광객 유치 효과를 동시에 기대할 수 있는 상생 모델로 평가받고 있다.
