고양특례시의회 김운남 의장이 학업과 운동을 병행하며 구슬땀을 흘리고 있는 지역 청소년 선수들을 격려하고 학교체육 현장의 목소리를 청취하기 위해 현장 소통에 나섰다.
김 의장은 지난 16일 최근 전국대회에서 뛰어난 성적을 거두며 고양시 체육의 위상을 높이고 있는 주엽고등학교 사격부를 방문해 선수들과 지도자들을 만나 격려의 시간을 가졌다.

주엽고등학교 사격부는 최근 열린 ‘제6회 홍범도장군배 전국사격대회’ 여자고등부 50m 3자세 단체전에서 주니어 신기록을 수립하며 우승을 차지하는 등 전국 정상급 기량을 입증했다.
이어 ‘제2회 IBK기업은행장배 전국사격대회’에서도 단체전 우승을 거머쥐었으며, 최예인 선수가 개인전에서 입상하는 성과를 올렸다.
이날 김 의장은 훈련 현장을 둘러보며 선수들의 훈련 환경과 운동부 운영 현황을 살폈다.
또한 학생 선수들이 부상 없이 학업과 운동을 병행할 수 있도록 학교체육 현장에서 겪고 있는 애로사항과 지원이 필요한 부분에 대해 의견을 청취했다.
김 의장은 “체육은 청소년들이 건강한 신체와 정신을 기르고 도전과 협동의 가치를 배우는 중요한 성장 과정”이라며 “전국대회에서 우수한 성적을 거두며 고양시를 빛내고 있는 학생 선수들의 노력이 매우 자랑스럽다”고 격려했다.
