일산동부경찰서가 이륜차와 개인형 이동장치(PM) 등 이른바 '두바퀴차'의 고위험 교통법규 위반 행위 근절을 위해 관계기관과 합동 단속 및 교통안전 캠페인을 실시했다.
일산동부경찰서에 따르면 지난 12일 일산동구 정발산역 인근 도로에서 한국교통안전공단, 고양시 일산동구청 환경녹지과와 함께 교통안전 합동 활동을 전개했다.

이번 활동은 이륜차와 PM 이용 증가에 따른 교통사고 예방과 안전한 보행환경 조성을 위해 마련됐다.
최근 일산동부경찰서 관내 두바퀴차 관련 교통사고는 감소 추세를 보이고 있지만, 사고 발생 시 운전자와 보행자 모두에게 심각한 인명 피해를 초래할 수 있어 지속적인 예방 활동이 필요하다는 판단에서다.
경찰은 현장에서 운전자들을 대상으로 안전운전을 당부하는 계도 활동과 함께 주요 법규 위반 행위에 대한 집중 단속을 실시했다.
단속 결과 총 11건의 위반 행위가 적발됐다.
자동차관리법 위반은 5건으로 번호판 가림과 불법 개조 등 안전기준을 위반한 사례가 포함됐다.
도로교통법 위반은 6건으로 신호위반, 안전모 미착용, 인도 주행 등 보행자 안전을 위협하는 행위가 적발됐다.
신광수 일산동부경찰서장은 “두바퀴차의 고위험 위반행위는 운전자 본인뿐 아니라 타인의 생명까지 위협할 수 있는 중대한 결과를 초래한다”며 “운전자들의 자발적인 법규 준수와 세심한 주의가 무엇보다 중요하다”고 말했다.
이어 “앞으로도 지속적인 단속과 홍보 활동을 통해 안전한 교통문화를 조성하는 데 최선을 다하겠다”고 밝혔다.
한편 일산동부경찰서는 앞으로도 유관기관과 긴밀히 협력해 이륜차와 PM의 반칙 운전을 근절하고 시민들이 안심하고 보행할 수 있는 교통환경 조성을 위한 단속과 캠페인을 지속적으로 추진할 계획이다.
