인천시교육청에 따르면, 이번에 확보한 특별교부금 139억 원에 자체 예산 52억 원을 더해 총 191억 원 규모의 재원으로, 관내 21개 지역교육현안 사업을 본격 추진할 계획이다.
이번에 확보한 예산은 학교 현장의 시급한 교육환경 개선 수요를 반영해 학교폭력 피해학생 전문교육기관 설치비(34억 원), 인천용현초 외벽 개선 공사비(13억 원), 인천부흥초 석면 천장 교체 등 시설 개선비(12억 원) 등이 포함됐다.
그동안 인천시교육청은 학교 현장에서 체감도가 높은 사업을 중심으로 지역교육현안 수요를 발굴하고, 사업의 필요성과 시급성을 면밀히 검토해 왔으며 이 같은 선제적 노력이 이번 대규모 재원 확보라는 성과로 이어졌다는 점에서 의미가 크다.
