경주시의회는 17일 본회의장에서 제297회 임시회 제1차 본회의를 개최하고 각종 안건 심의와 함께 회기 일정을 시작했다고 밝혔다.
이날 본회의에서는 임시회 회기 결정안을 비롯해 2026년도 제1차 정례회 집회 시기 변경안, 경주시의회 위원회 전부개정조례안, 경주시의회 윤리특별위원회 구성 등에 관한 규칙 일부개정규칙안 등을 처리했다.
의회는 오는 18일부터 23일까지 휴회 기간을 갖고 각 상임위원회별로 주요 안건 심사에 나설 예정이다. 심사 대상은 조례안 12건, 동의안 3건, 의견청취안 1건, 공유재산 관리계획 변경안 7건, 보고사항 5건 등 총 28건이다.
이번 회기에는 의원 발의 조례안도 상정됐다. 최재필 의원이 대표 발의한 ‘경주시 동학사상 계승·발전 조례안’과 정성룡 의원이 대표 발의한 ‘경주시 남북교류협력에 관한 조례 일부개정조례안’ 등 2건이 심의 대상에 포함됐다.
이날 본회의는 다른 일정으로 참석하지 못한 이동협 의장을 대신해 임활 부의장이 진행했다.
임활 부의장은 개회사를 통해 “지난 4년 동안 제9대 경주시의회에 관심과 성원을 보내준 시민 여러분께 감사드린다”며 “의정활동에 헌신한 동료 의원들과 지역 발전을 위해 함께 노력한 집행부 공직자들의 노고에도 감사의 뜻을 전한다”고 말했다.
이어 “제9대 의회의 마지막 회기인 만큼 상정된 안건들을 면밀하게 검토하고 책임 있는 의정활동으로 유종의 미를 거둘 수 있도록 최선을 다해 달라”고 당부했다.
한편 제9대 경주시의회는 오는 24일 제2차 본회의를 열어 각 상임위원회 심사 결과를 최종 의결하고 제297회 임시회를 마무리할 예정이다. 이로써 지난 4년간 이어온 제9대 의회의 공식 의정활동도 막을 내리게 된다.
