<브레이크뉴스 포천 = 이용하 기자> 본격적인 여름철을 앞두고 포천시 새마을방역봉사단이 말라리아 등 감염병 예방을 위한 대대적인 모기 소탕 작전에 돌입했다.
새마을지도자포천시협의회는 지난 16일 포천시새마을회관에서 백영현 포천시장 등 관계자 50여 명이 참석한 가운데 ‘2026년 말라리아 방역 발대식’을 개최했다고 17일 밝혔다.

이번 발대식은 모기 매개 감염병 확산을 선제적으로 차단하고 시민의 건강과 안전을 지키기 위한 방역활동의 시작을 알리고자 마련됐다. 새마을방역봉사단은 오는 9월까지 지역 내 취약지구를 중심으로 집중 방역을 실시할 예정이다.
이를 위해 포천시는 말라리아 살충제 600개, 모기기피제 600개, 모기유충구제제 40kg 등 필수 방역물품을 지원하며 봉사단의 활동에 힘을 보탰다.
백영현 포천시장은 “어려운 여건 속에서도 지역사회를 위해 헌신적으로 봉사해 주시는 새마을지도자들의 노고에 깊이 감사드린다”며 안전하고 건강한 포천 조성을 당부했다.
