과천지식정보타운의 고질적인 도심 미관 저해 요인이자 주민들의 숙원이었던 대형 송전탑들이 마침내 모두 철거되어 역사 속으로 사라졌다.
과천시는 과천시와 한국토지주택공사(LH)가 협력해 전방위로 추진해 온 과천지식정보타운 내 송전탑 철거 작업이 지난 16일을 기해 최종 마무리됐다고 17일 밝혔다.
이번 철거는 지식정보타운 개발 지구 내에 위치해 시야를 가로막던 총 5개의 지상 송전탑을 대상으로 진행됐다. 지난해 11월 제비울교차로 인근의 첫 송전탑 철거를 시작으로 철저한 안전 관리 속에 공사가 이어졌으며, 이날 마지막 잔여 송전탑까지 깔끔하게 해체 작업을 마쳤다. 이로써 지구 내 도심지에서 전방을 가로막던 대형 구조물들이 모두 자취를 감추었으며, 시는 향후 남아있는 지하 기초 구조물 철거와 부지 정비 작업도 순차적으로 전개할 계획이다.
