김수현 더불어민주당 당대표 특별보좌역(전 세종시장 예비후보)이 세종갑 지역위원장 공모에 도전장을 던졌다.
김 특보는 이번 공모에 임하며 '강한 개혁, 더 큰 통합, 열린 지역위원회'를 중심 가치로 공표했다. 당원이 중심이 되는 주권 민주주의를 바탕으로 지역위원회에 새로운 혁신을 불어넣겠다는 구상이다.
그간 김 특보는 당내 안팎에서 개혁의 목소리를 꾸준히 내왔다. 지난해 11월 중순부터 세종시장 경선 전까지 매일 아침 거리에서 1인 시위를 진행하며 내란 종식과 사회 대개혁을 촉구한 바 있다.
이와 함께 1인 1표제 도입, 수사·기소권의 완전한 분리를 골자로 한 검찰개혁 등 굵직한 개혁 과제들을 지속해서 주장하며 선봉에 서왔다.
김 특보는 세종갑 지역위원회를 개혁의 중심 기지로 삼아 당원이 진정한 주인으로 대접받는 강력한 조직을 만들겠다는 포부를 드러냈다.
단순히 당원 중심에만 머무는 것이 아니라, 세종갑 지역위원회를 시민 모두가 동참하는 플랫폼 형태로 진화시키겠다는 계획이다. 이를 통해 진보와 중도는 물론, 합리적 보수층까지 포섭하는 정치적 외연 확장을 이루어 '더 큰 통합'을 달성하겠다는 계산이다.

특히 오는 7월 도입을 앞둔 지구당 제도에 대해서는 선제적인 비전을 제시했다. 지구당을 당원 교육과 소통, 참여 민주주의를 실현하는 핵심 거점으로 키워 전국적인 모범 사례로 만들겠다는 전략이다. 온전히 당원들을 위한 공간을 환원함으로써 진정한 지역 정당의 모델을 보여주겠다는 의지다.
한편, 더불어민주당 지역위원장 선출은 조직강화특별위원회의 서류 심사와 면접 조사를 거쳐 윤곽이 드러난다. 경선 지역으로 분류될 경우, 이달 말부터 7월 초 사이에 최종 당선자가 결정될 예정이다.
