허태정 대전시장 당선인이 취임 전 첫 민생 소통 행보로 근로자들을 만나 “노동 현장의 고충을 민선 9기 시정 운영의 핵심 과제로 삼겠다”고 약속했다.
허 당선인은 17일 오전 대전 서구 둔산동 근로자복지회관에서 민생·소통 프로젝트인 ‘시민의 광장’ 첫 번째 일정으로 ‘노동자와의 대화’ 자리를 마련했다.
‘노동이 존중받는 도시, 대전’이라는 슬로건 아래 열린 이날 간담회에는 다양한 업종과 직종을 대표하는 근로자 및 현장 노동자 60여 명이 참석했다. 허 당선인은 이들과 마주 앉아 근무 환경의 어려움과 제도적 보완이 필요한 현안들에 대해 가감 없는 의견을 나눴다.
현장에 참석한 노동자들은 대전시 내부의 노동정책 전담 부서 위상 강화(조직 승격)를 비롯해 산업재해 예방을 위한 안전대책 마련, 근로자 편의시설 확대 등을 건의했다. 또한 시내버스 운전기사 간 임금 격차 문제 해결과 향후 트램 공사 본격화에 따른 교통 혼잡 대책 등 구체적인 현장 민원들도 쏟아냈다.
이에 대해 허 당선인은 노동 전담 조직 확대와 산업안전망 강화 등 제기된 건의 사항의 취지에 전적으로 공감하며, 노동 현안을 향후 도정의 주요 의제로 다루겠다는 의지를 피력했다. 다만 상당한 예산 수반이 필요한 일부 요구안들에 대해서는 “현재 대전시의 재정 여건이 당초 예상보다 녹록지 않은 상황”이라며 실무적·재정적 한계에 대한 이해를 구하기도 했다.
이날 행사에는 인수위원회 관계자들도 배석해 현장의 제안사항들을 꼼꼼히 기록했다. 인수위는 이날 수렴한 노동계의 목소리를 민선 9기 도정 청사진과 구체적인 노동정책 가이드라인에 반영할 수 있도록 내부 검토를 진행할 방침이다.
허 당선인은 “현장에서 전달해 준 값진 제안과 고충들을 민선 9기 시정의 밑거름으로 삼겠다”라며 “앞으로도 각계각층의 생생한 목소리를 가감 없이 청취해 도민들이 체감할 수 있는 현장 중심의 정책을 만들어 가겠다”고 강조했다.
