특히 서울특별시 새마을부녀회와의 상생 협력이 일손이 부족한 농가에 큰 보탬이 되고 있다. 서울 새마을부녀회는 16일부터 3일간 서울 25개 자치구 회원 1030명이 단양을 방문해 지역 내 26개 농가의 마늘 수확 작업을 지원하는 중이다. 회원들은 이른 새벽부터 단양 전역의 마늘밭에서 마늘을 캐고 운반하며 농가의 시름을 덜어주고 있다.
