[브레이크뉴스=이성용 기자] 경상남도교육청이 경남교육의 역사와 기록을 체계적으로 보존·관리하기 위한 경상남도교육청기록원의 문을 열고 본격적인 운영에 들어갔다.
경남교육청은 17일 창원시 북면에 위치한 경상남도교육청기록원에서 개원식을 개최했다. 행사에는 박종훈 교육감을 비롯해 국회의원과 도의원, 교육 관계자, 지역 주민 등 200여 명이 참석해 기록원 개원을 축하했다.
경상남도교육청기록원은 경남교육의 역사적 가치와 교육 유산을 미래 세대에 전승하기 위해 설립된 영구기록물관리기관이다. 옛 창북중학교를 리모델링해 조성됐으며, 총사업비 190억7천만 원이 투입됐다. 시설은 연면적 4,201㎡ 규모의 지상 3층 건물로 조성됐다.
기록원은 총 7개의 보존서고를 갖추고 있으며 최대 36만 권의 기록물을 보관할 수 있다. 항온·항습 설비와 가스식 소화설비, RFID 기반 관리 시스템을 도입해 중요 기록물의 안전한 장기 보존 체계를 구축했다.
또한 탈산 장비와 복원 장비 등 전문 설비를 갖춰 훼손되거나 노후화된 기록물을 과학적으로 보존할 수 있는 기반도 마련했다.

기록원은 단순한 기록물 보관 기능을 넘어 도민이 함께 이용하는 기록문화 플랫폼 역할도 수행한다. 상설·기획전시실과 보이는 서고 관람홀을 운영하며, 별관에는 강당과 북카페, 체험실 등을 마련해 다양한 교육·문화 프로그램을 제공할 예정이다.
앞으로 교육청과 학교의 30년 이상 보존 대상 기록물을 통합 관리하고, 민간이 보유한 교육 관련 기록물 수집 사업도 확대할 계획이다. 학생과 도민을 위한 기록문화 체험 프로그램과 기록물관리 직무연수도 운영한다.
이와 함께 디지털 기록보관소인 디다봄을 구축해 온라인에서도 경남교육의 역사와 기록을 쉽게 접할 수 있도록 했다.
김환수 기록원장은 “기록원은 경남교육의 소중한 기억과 성과를 체계적으로 보존하는 공간이자 도민 누구나 기록을 통해 역사와 미래를 만나는 문화 플랫폼”이라며 “경남교육의 정체성을 이어가는 열린 기록문화 공간으로 발전시켜 나가겠다”고 말했다.
한편 기록원 전시관은 화요일부터 일요일까지 오전 10시부터 오후 5시까지 무료로 운영되며, 오는 7월부터 다양한 기록문화 체험 프로그램도 선보일 예정이다.
