세계여성평화그룹(IWPG)이 3월 미국 뉴욕 유엔본부에서 열리는 제70차 여성지위위원회(CSW)에 대표단을 파견하며 국제 무대에서 적극적인 평화 외교를 펼친다.
이번 회의는 ‘여성과 소녀의 사법 접근권 보장 및 공정한 법체계 촉진’을 주제로, 전 세계 여성들이 직면한 법적·구조적 장벽 해소를 논의하는 자리다.
전나영 대표를 필두로 한국 및 해외 지부장들로 구성된 파견단은 2주간 유엔 본부 내외에서 다채로운 행보를 보인다.

IWPG는 유엔 경제사회이사회(ECOSOC)·글로벌소통국(DGC)에 등록된 국제 NGO로, 122개국 115개 지부와 68개국 900여 협력단체를 운영하며 세계 평화 실현을 목표로 활동한다.
전나영 대표는 “여성 주도의 평화가 정책과 법제화로 이어지는 이정표가 될 것”이라며, 갈등과 전쟁 불안이 커지는 시점에서 IWPG의 위로와 평화 메시지를 전하겠다고 밝혔다.
이번 CSW 참가는 세계 여성부 및 국제기구들과의 네트워크를 강화하고, 여성평화교육의 글로벌 확산을 가속화할 전망이다.

The International Women's Peace Group (IWPG) will actively engage in peace diplomacy on the international stage by sending a delegation to the 70th Commission on the Status of Women (CSW), held at the UN Headquarters in New York in March.
The meeting, themed "Ensuring Women and Girls' Access to Justice and Promoting a Fair Legal System," will discuss eliminating legal and structural barriers faced by women around the world.
The delegation, led by Chairwoman Jeon Na-young and comprised of Korean and international branch heads, will engage in diverse activities at and around UN Headquarters over the next two weeks.
Highlights of the event include joint side events with the African Union (AU) and Turkey, global NGO solidarity events, high-level meetings with governments and UN ambassadors, and exchanges with New York members.
