박 후보는 해병문화도시의 구체적 추진 방향으로 시민 참여 프로그램 확대를 비롯해 청소년 및 가족 단위 체험 콘텐츠 강화, 해양관광 및 도심 콘텐츠와 연계한 체류형 관광 활성화 등을 제시했다.
또 “해병문화도시는 포항의 정체성을 강화하는 동시에 지역경제에도 도움이 되는 전략이 되어야 한다”며 “방문객이 머무르고 다시 찾는 도시로 만들기 위해 콘텐츠와 관광 동선을 촘촘히 연결하겠다”고 말했다.
박 후보는 “해병대의 충성·용기·희생정신은 포항 시민의 자부심이자 도시의 힘”이라며 “해병과 시민이 함께 만드는 도시를 조성하겠다”고 덧붙였다.
마지막으로 그는 해병대 장병과 가족들에게 감사의 뜻을 전하며 “장병들의 안전과 건승을 기원한다”고 말했다.
