브레이크뉴스 박동제 기자= 국제올림픽위원회(IOC)가 ‘2024 파리올림픽’ 개회식에서 한국 선수단을 북한으로 잘못 소개한 것에 대해 사과했다.
IOC는 27일(한국시간) 소셜미디어 엑스(X·옛 트위터) 한국어 서비스 계정을 통해 “개회식 중계 중 대한민국 선수단 소개 시 발생한 실수에 대해 깊이 사과드린다”고 밝혔다.
다만 영문으로 운영되는 IOC 공식 SNS에는 이와 관련된 사과문이 올라오지 않았다.
앞서 ‘2024 파리올림픽’ 개회식에서는 한국 선수단을 북한으로 소개하는 대형사고가 발생했다.
한국 선수단 50여명은 27일(한국시간) 프랑스 파리 센강에서 열린 ‘2024 파리올림픽’ 개회식에서 206개국 출전국 가운데 48번째로 입장했다.
한국은 영어 명칭인 ‘Korea’가 아닌 프랑스어 ‘Coree’ 기준에 따라 쿡 제도(Cook Island)에 이어 48번째로 입장한 가운데, 한국 선수단을 소개하는 과정에서 장내 아나운서의 황당한 사고가 나왔다.
한국 선수단이 등장하는 순간 장내 아나운서는 프랑스어로 한국을 ‘Republique populaire democratique de coree’로 소개했고, 영어로는 ‘Democratic People's Republic of Korea’라고 말했다. 둘다 불어와 영어로 북한을 가리키는 말이다. 한국 정식 명칭은 프랑스어로 ‘Republique de coree’며, 영어로는 ‘Republic of Korea’다.
