군산해경이 집계한 자료에 따르면 최근 5년간 도내에서 발생한 해상 사고는 엔진 고장ㆍ스크루 어망 감김ㆍ표류 등 5건이 발생했다.
이 같은 사고 분석과 여객선 항로상 위험성 분석을 통해 여객선 항로 특별관리 대책을 시행한다.
