칠판과 빽빽한 문제집에 갇혀 있던 시선과 숨 막히는 입시 경쟁의 트랙에서 잠시 비켜서서, 오롯이 나라는 존재를 탐구하는 특별한 교실이 문을 열었다.
6일 대전교육연수원 부설 꿈나래교육원이 고등학교 1·2학년 위탁 학생들을 품고 2026학년도 대안 교육과정의 막을 올렸다.
이곳의 시간표는 국영수 중심의 획일화된 진도표가 아닌 인문학을 읽고 연극 무대에 오르며, 친구들과 머리를 맞대 영상 콘텐츠를 기획하는 일과로 촘촘히 짜여있다.
사물놀이 장단에 맞춰 땀을 흘리고, 텃밭을 직접 일구는 노작 활동을 통해 생명의 가치도 배운다. '다 함께, 신나게, 나답게'라는 슬로건은 1년 동안 아이들이 직접 마주하며 살아갈 일상 그 자체다.
현장에서 만난 아이들의 표정에는 낯선 환경에 대한 두려움보다 설렘이 더 짙게 묻어났다.
입교식장에 들어선 한 학생은 이전 학교에서는 언감생심 꿈꾸지 못했던 활동들이라며, 내 안의 진짜 목소리를 듣고 나만의 속도를 찾고 싶다는 소감을 밝혔다. 남들과 똑같은 속도로 달리지 않아도 괜찮다는 안도감이 아이들의 움츠린 어깨를 펴게 한 셈이다.
박광순 대전교육연수원장 역시 든든한 바람막이를 자처했다. 그는 학생들이 각자의 보폭에 맞춰 성장하며 세상을 꿋꿋하게 살아갈 내면의 근육을 키우도록 곁에서 모든 지원을 아끼지 않겠다고 힘주어 말했다.
