충남 천안시 서북구 입장면 일대에 대한민국 축구의 새로운 거점인 ‘코리아풋볼파크’가 들어섰다.
대한축구협회는 7일 김태흠 충남지사와 정몽규 협회장 등이 참석한 가운데 개관식을 열었다.
국·도비 등 4023억 원을 들여 조성한 44만 9341㎡ 규모의 부지에는 천연 및 인조잔디 구장 11면이 자리를 잡았다.
선수 숙소 82실과 국제 규격 실내 축구장, 전문 재활 시설인 퍼포먼스 센터를 구축해 국가대표급 훈련 환경을 완성했다.
도민들이 이용하는 풋살장과 트레킹 코스 등 생활체육시설은 재작년 여름에 이미 문을 열었으며 실내체육관은 오는 7월 개장을 앞두고 있다.
천안시는 원활한 차량 통행을 위해 진입도로를 내달 준공하고 고속도로와 연결하는 하이패스 나들목을 연내에 설치할 예정이다.
김 지사는 이번 시설이 축구 대회를 넘어 숙박과 관광 등 지역 경제 전반에 활력을 불어넣는 동력이 될 것으로 내다봤다. 이어 충남 지역 축구단인 천안과 아산팀의 1부 리그 승격 지원을 약속하며 한국 축구 발전을 이끄는 중심지로 육성할 것이라는 방침을 전했다.
