충남 서해안의 산업 지도가 ‘잿빛 탄소’를 벗고 ‘청정 수소’로 다시 그려진다.
충남도는 국토교통부가 주관한 ‘2027년 수소교통 복합기지 구축 공모’에서 서산시와 태안군이 최종 선정되며 국비 85억 5000만 원을 확보했다고 10일 밝혔다.
화력발전과 석유화학 산업의 요충지였던 두 지역이 미래 에너지의 혈맥이라 불리는 수소 교통 거점으로 거듭날 발판을 마련한 것이다.
이번에 구축되는 수소교통 복합기지는 단순히 차에 수소를 채우는 충전소를 넘어선다.
대용량 충전·저장 시설은 물론 주차장과 생산시설 등 부대시설이 한데 어우러진 ‘에너지 허브’ 역할을 수행한다.
서산시 대산읍 대죽리와 태안군 태안읍 삭선리에 각각 2기의 고압가스 수소충전소가 들어서며, 총 125억 원의 사업비가 투입되어 2027년 착공해 2028년 완공을 목표로 한다.
서산시는 국내 3대 부생수소 생산 거점인 대산산업단지의 지리적 이점을 정조준했다.
산단 내 수소 충전소를 구축해 수소도시 조성 사업과 시너지를 내는 ‘산업단지형 모델’을 구현하겠다는 구상이다.
반면 태안군은 탄소포집형 수소 생산기지와 연계해 생산부터 소비까지 단절 없는 공급망을 꾀한다.
이는 화력발전소의 단계적 폐지에 대응해 지역 경제를 지탱할 대체 산업을 육성하겠다는 생존 전략이기도 하다.
충남도는 이번 사업을 마중물 삼아 수소 버스와 화물차 등 상용차 중심의 무공해차 전환에 가속도를 낸다.
