콘크리트 숲을 벗어나 흙을 일구며 ‘농심(農心)’을 키우려는 대전 시민들의 열기가 뜨겁다.
대전시 농업기술센터는 11일 오전 11시, 법정기념일인 ‘도시농업의 날’을 맞아 유성구 교촌동 소재 도시농업 테마파크에서 ‘행복농장’ 개장식을 성황리에 개최했다.
올해로 10회째를 맞은 도시농업의 날이라 그 의미를 더했다는 평가다.
이날 행사장에는 이장우 대전시장을 비롯해 치열한 경쟁을 뚫고 텃밭을 분양받은 시민들과 도시농업 단체 등 150여 명이 참석해 설레는 경작의 시작을 알렸다.
참가자들은 텃밭 번호를 추첨하고 이용계약서를 작성하며 나만의 작은 농장을 가꿀 준비를 마쳤다.
이번 행복농장의 인기는 그야말로 ‘바늘구멍’이었다. 지난 2월 진행된 분양 신청 결과, 20㎡ 규모의 텃밭은 8.7대 1, 10㎡ 텃밭은 4.5대 1이라는 높은 경쟁률을 기록했다.
도심 속에서 자연과 호흡하며 직접 먹거리를 기르려는 시민들의 갈증이 수치로 증명된 셈이다.
선정된 110가구는 이날부터 오는 11월 29일까지 약 8개월간 자율적으로 작물을 재배하게 된다.
